Sunday Worship Assistants

The original Greek word for ‘liturgy’ literally translates to ‘the work of the people’. Our Sunday morning Holy Communion worship service really is a work of many people. A labor of love, volunteers serve with great pride and joy in many ways. Worship Assistants include Ushers, Communion Stewards/ Assistants, a Lector, a Video Technician, and Java Junction host. To learn more about one of these roles or to sign up to volunteer, please contact the church office or Pastor.

Altar Guild

Altar Guild prepares the altar for Holy Communion each Sunday and for holiday services. Altar Guild members prepare the communion elements, maintain the communion vessels, and attend to the altar and chancel paraments. For more information about joining the Altar Guild, please contact the church office.

Choir

The Trinity Choir is made up of a wide variety of musicians with various musical backgrounds. They sing a mixture of different choral styles from many resources. Choir season is September through May. The choir also performs annually for all the special services of the church including the Community Thanksgiving Service, Christmas Eve Lessons and Carols, and Holy Week services. TLC choir is open to all who wish to attend with practices Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm in the choir room next to the organ loft. The goal of the TLC choir is to honor and worship God through our musical talents. There are no auditions to join the group; all are accepted!

Worship Band

Trinity Lutheran Church’s Worship Band enhances the church service by providing music composed by modern day artists for a more contemporary type of service. We always happily welcome new members! If you like the more contemporary Christian songs, you would enjoy being a part of our group. We rehearse on Sundays before worship.

Trinity Stitchers

Trinity Stitchers meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month at 1pm in the Quilting Room. This ecumenical group of Christians works together to sew large quilts, lap quilts and walker bags. Large quilts, lap quilts, and walker bags are sent to Lutheran World Relief, local nursing homes, DCFS for local needs and to Lutherdale Bible Camp. We always welcome new helpers. Please come and enjoy time together as we serve the Lord.

World Community Service is a Rotary International sponsored service program. Rotary International has undertaken hundreds of “community service” projects for Health, Hunger & Humanity that are provided to our world wide community which is serve by Rotarians.

Ottawa & Marquette High School

Ottawa & Marquette High School scholarships are one of our Vocational Committee projects. Monthly from October through April, one outstanding senior from each school speaks to our club members about their goals and plans for the future. The committee then selects one student from each school for a $500 educational scholarship.

Growing Hope Globally

Twin Rivers – Barrington Growing Hope Globally Project

Growing Hope Globally partners Trinity with the LaSalle County Soil and Water Conservation District and its farmers, Barrington United Methodist Church, and many individuals. Our purpose is to raise money to help people in the very hungry places of the world improve their agriculture and food production. Growing Hope estimates that there are over 815 million hungry people in the world – only about 2% of those are in the United States.

In 2018’s crop year $41,654 supported food production programs in the communities of Nicaragua-Carazo and Conquista. In 2019’s crop year $19, 260.00 was donated to these communities as well. This money was earned as some LaSalle County farmers donated the income from some acres of corn and soybeans. The non-farming partners donated money to cover the farmers’ production costs on those acres.

Church Committees

All our members are welcome to join any of the committees at Trinity. Worship Committee meets with Pastor quarterly to plan our congregation’s worship services. Mission/ Outreach Committees work together each month planning ways to serve our neighbors and get the word out about God’s love and the fellowship we enjoy, particularly, here at Trinity. Christian Education Committee meets with the Director of Youth and Family Ministries to plan engaging lessons, activities, and experiences for our church youth. Our Property Committee works hard to care for our two buildings: the Sanctuary and the Education Building. They are also charged with the task of caring for our land and our parking lots. The Finance Committee has the responsibility of overseeing our church budget. Other committees and teams include Council, Audit, Endowment, Memorial, Nominating Team, Personnel, and Scholarship, Stewardship, and Strategic Planning. To learn more about each committee, connect with them at our Ministry Fair in the Fall.
