We Are A People
Called Together…Sharing Christ
Trinity Lutheran Church!
Trinity is a congregation that has been in Ottawa over 125 years. Trinity is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). Within the ELCA we are part of the Northern Illinois Synod.
Fellowship is more than just sharing stories. It is more so to reflect on how great God’s grace has been to Trinity Lutheran Church. Let us then celebrate this way!
Going forward in this ever changing faith climate, no matter the style or outreach, there are three things that will remain true.
- Jesus is God’s salvation to all people.
- Holy Baptism and Holy Communion are essential for faith and life.
- God’s Proclamation “your sins are forgiven in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,” will always be going before Trinity Lutheran Church.
In response to the COVID 19 Shelter in Place order we will not be having worshipping until it is safe for us all to be together again. You can view our worship service on our Facebook page, Trinity Lutheran Church of Ottawa, or on You Tube at 10:00a.m. on Sunday mornings.
One evening in the fall of 1892, 15 Norwegian immigrants met in a schoolhouse belonging to the German Lutheran Church located on Ottawa’s west side. In the spirit of determination and enterprise that characterized Ottawa at the time they were emboldened to organize a congregation.
Through the years Trinity has grown from modest beginnings. A debt of gratitude is owed to the early members of Trinity for their strength of spirit and dedication. From the 15 original members Trinity now has 208 families. From humble beginnings in a rented schoolhouse to a future bright with hope and promise, Trinity has become a leader in Christian influence throughout Ottawa and beyond.
